What about Images?

You want a visually appealing website and images can give you that appeal.

1. Where do Images come from?: You can take images of your products or have someone else take them for you.

2. Can I use Images I found on the Internet?: Many times I have seen some nice images on a website. For example, I built a website for a flooring company. I needed pictures of vinyl, lanoleum, etc... I found some great pictures at a manufacturers website and emailed them to ask permission to use those images. They loved it! They thanked me over and over for asking permission and not just stealing them! They sent me a permission letter and told me to take anything I wanted! Sweet! So, don't just take them, ask first. There are some sites that have royalty free images. You can do a search in Google to find some free images.

3. My pictures look lame!: Just because you take a picture, doesn't mean it will look perfect. Sometimes, there is a lot of image manipulation that goes on before the image ever gets on a web page. It takes me longer to optimize 60 images than it would for me to create 60 pages! The lighting may need to be corrected, or they could be crooked. Also, if you send a picture to a Designer and it is 2000 x 2000 and in a .tiff format, then they have no choice but to optimize it. You must factor the image optimization into the price of the website design.
